Course description:
Drupal is a modular open source content management system: supplemental functionalities can be added through third party modules.
Easy to install, its configuration is easy to learn for people with CMS experience.
This workshop will demonstrate Drupal customized for specific purposes related to libraries:
- basics of Drupal (node, taxonomy, ...)
- usual CMS for intranet / internet (News, events, blog, forums, ...)
- share a department bibliography using the Bibliography module, interact with EndNote / BIBTEX
- provide an electronic resources database using CCK
- provide a glossary - send newsletter
- provide a wiki like for team working with the Book module and some others
- host handouts and webcasts - aggregates feeds
- interact with the Integrated Library Management System (ILS): form basics to specific modules
- other nice options (interact with Learning Management Systems, Document Management Systems, ..)
Prerequisite: basics of CMS and HTML
